“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.” – Kurt Vonnegut
I really like this quote. I have never really thought about how and who we pretend to be as adults. To pretend is to act or envision ourselves as something we are not.
In terms of manifesting what we want in our lives, this is a brilliant way of thinking about and putting into action who you want to become. However, the problem lies when we are not being true to ourselves. When we are playing pretend in our everyday lives and not honoring who we are meant to be, we must be cautious.
Authentic people are far more valuable than those who are trying to be something they are not. Pretending is not reality, so keeping that in mind and being aware of your present state is very important. It is perfectly natural to want to be like others and work toward better versions of ourselves, but remaining grounded is critical. Pretend to be who you want to be not who you will never be.
