You hear people talking about how bad it is to overthink things. I agree with this in a lot of ways, but I also believe that there is a time and place for it as well. It can serve as a way to plan and get clarity.
When I am unsure of something, I like to “overthink” it. I make lists, I run numbers, and I write. These methods provide insight into the situation and allow me to look at it from different angles. It gives me the opportunity to let my mind go in whatever direction necessary to get clarity.
For me, this is better than avoiding thinking about it. If I cannot get my head around the situation, I cannot stop thinking about it. So, if you are anything like me, small doses of overthinking are actually healthier than avoiding it all together. However, we all process things differently, so it is essential to listen to your heart and mind and take care of yourself in the best way possible.
