In honor of Thanksgiving, I want to take a minute to talk about how important it is to celebrate this day. I have heard a lot of people stressed out about this day over the past couple weeks and sure it can be, but this day is more than a meal. This day is more than turkey, sweet potatoes and dressing. This day is the one day a year set aside for us to reflect on what we are thankful for.
It can be so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the day that we forget all the wonderful blessings we have. Some even resent the holiday for all the work that goes into the meal and the short week leading up to it. To these people I say ok, don’t do it. Don’t cook the big turkey. Don’t cook at all, cater it. Spend the day focused on your family and friends. Spend the day enjoying those around you rather than just the food in your belly.
One day a year we get to reflect. One day a year is dedicated to quality time and gratitude. Don’t miss your opportunity to relax and enjoy. If you don’t have time to make stuffing, don’t make stuffing. Stop thinking about the food and start thinking about your blessings. Life is too short to miss these beautiful moments; there will be a day when you look back and long for Thanksgiving and the time spent with loved ones, so find the joy and gratitude today. Take time to really think about what you are thankful for. Start a new tradition and leave the stress behind. Happy Thanksgiving!
