Truth

Have you ever had someone tell you a truth about yourself you were not ready to hear? 9e1240853c4cb99de98f8e54b56f11deYour first reaction is likely to be defensive and withdrawal. You know deep down they are right, but the reality is tough to swallow right away.

I tend to be “brutally honest” when it comes to other people, but I don’t always receive my own truths well. The thing is, honesty is important to hear. You have to always be open to your truths.

If you refuse to accept the things that define you deep within you cannot grow. It is ok to respond at first with disdain, but you must reflect and come to grips with reality eventually. There is so much freedom in accepting your truths.

Think about it, if you are unwilling to accept the realities about yourself then you are lying to yourself all day every day. Accepting your truths is no different than telling someone a secret. You get a release from the facts you have been hiding. It is a relief to finally be who you are unapologetically.

Remember what Gloria Steinem once said, “the truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off”.
