Have you ever had days when you are just plain tired? You got plenty of sleep the night before and have no logical reason to be tired, but you still feel exhausted. How do you handle yourself on those days?
Do you push on and fight through the fatigue? Do you call in and have a “sick day”? Or, do you acknowledge your feelings and find a happy medium?
As you know, I am a big believer in mental health days. However, I am also a believer in listening to your body. Some days you need to lay low and do things that allow you to be productive while giving your body the rest it obviously needs.
The tricky part about acknowledging your physical needs is not feeling guilty for making compromises. Of course, there are some things you cannot reschedule or put off, but if you can make your day work for you, why would you not? Being in tune with your needs every day is crucial to happiness and joy.
Making yourself do things that ultimately do not have to be done on that particular day is, in a sense, dishonoring your needs. Life is too short live your life based on strict and rigid schedules. If you can allow yourself to be more flexible, you will be able to adapt in the times when your strength is truly tested. So, if you are tired today, listen to your body. You will thank yourself tomorrow.
