Being genuine

I would consider myself a pretty genuine person. I may not be the kindest person, but Iimages (1) am real and honest. There is never any guessing with me what I mean.

I recently had an encounter with someone who at first glance and meeting appeared to be very genuine. This person presented themselves in a manner that they cared about me and my life and seemed to show interest in helping me achieve my goals.

Upon our second meeting it became clear that they were selling me something. While I never determined what, due to their mysterious way of talking about what they wanted me to get involved in, I did figure out that this person is not genuine. They were not straightforward with me.

Unfortunately, because I am so honest and straightforward, I have a tendency to believe that everyone is this way as well. Sadly, that is not the case. Many people make a living by not being genuine. They think they can swindle people into believing things that are not true.

Despite this frustrating encounter, I have realized who I do not want to be. I do not want people to wonder who I am or why I do what I do. I do not want to mislead people about my intentions.

I want to be someone who you can count on. I want to be honest and truthful. I want to be genuine.
