Lack of Motivation

It is no secret that the week between Christmas and New Years is known to be a slowc581a498 week with little going on. This can be great or cause you to feel guilty for your lack of motivation. I am the type of person who tends to feel guilty when I am not as productive as I could be.

This is a great quality most of the time, but it can also cause unnecessary stress. The fact of the matter is that a new year is right around the corner and we all have goals and resolutions we hope to accomplish. We are spending our week in anticipation of the hard work we intend to put into the next year and feel guilty that we are not “going out with a bang” this year.

Thinking in this way will inhibit us from achieving our goals in the new year. By not giving ourselves a break and embracing the so-called calm before the storm we are inadvertently starting the new year tired and worn out.

I challenge you this weekend to relax, take it easy and embrace the slowness of this time of year. Truly allow yourself to hit the reset button and tackle your goals for 2018. Let your lack of motivation be the light that guides you into the new year, not a dark cloud breaking your spirit. Look to 2018 with confidence and excitement for each new year is a chance to start anew and forget the downfalls of years prior.

  1. My way of interpreting this is the following: we’re mammals, so we are kind of lazy ( in order to preserve energy and such) so we shouldn’t beat ourselves up for our lack of motivation once in a while. It is normal to feel that way from time to time.
